130 days in hospital care: Alexis and Gareth’s story
In October 2019, at 23 weeks and five days, Alexis went to her local hospital because she was experiencing pains. As a small island, Guernsey’s neonatal unit is only able to provide emergency, short term care to very premature babies, so, she was flown to Southampton the next morning, by medevac (urgent medical air transfers).
